  I remember a nutbar elder (former PO) who had one of those massive 8" wide black cases. He was showing off its compartments that you stock a major municipal library in. Anyway, it had a combination lock - two sets of three numbers and some little kid was playing around with it and reset the combinations - what a laugh as the PO struggles to get his #1 talk out and SM part - broke the locks with a spoon - we just could not contain oursleves!! I seriously came close to peeing myself!

  I was glad to bin mine when I stepped aside earlier this year - I go with what I need now. I don't need the reminder of the past.

  do you find it acceptable that a religious leader would give a seemingly christian meaning to events and symbols whose roots go back to ancient paganism?

  as to the proper course, the scriptures admonish true christians: what fellowship do righteousness and lawlessness have?

  Looks like the demonized Raggedy Ann got around:

  (1) Caused problems (page 121) for a Latino family. (2) Passed along to the family of Irish/Scottish decent with the pedo problem - Willy McWanker (page 171) - problems there and was thrown out only to have some (3) Scandinavian kid's pet dog rake though rubbbish of post Armageddon waste and find some old red sandals and a weird looking doll being eyed by a Polar bear taking a leak in a stream...

  I love FW Night - we now watch "House" and "Lie to Me" so we can figure out how we would respond to Dr. Feelbad if we met him in the FS, how might we reason with him and show him from the WDTBRT book how he could throw away that cane. Or how we can learn observational techniques to determine if someone tells me to p@ss off at the door - are they truthful or lying to me because they really want the truth?

  Thanks. Most of the auxillary comments today from the R&F had nothing to do with the study material - usual "appreciate the act of deliverance by attending meetings, serivice, study...etc" Nobody really studies these days. WTSC was in autopilot mode....you could answer "Satan saved Isaac as he wanted to screw around with his sex drive till he was 40 when he got married" and the WTSC would say "good point" or "good observation","yes, exactly"....going through the motions.

  "Absolute belief and absolute disbelief require no thought (thinking) at all" In between are those termed more "noble minded" - willing to question, explore, mine and harvest their God given intellect to better themselves first so they can better others next. The scriptures provide (but not exclusively) such a mileu for betterment. In is unconscionable on any organization's part, especially one that espouses open-mindedness to act to the contrary. A people kept in fear and ignorance are more easily controlled, manipulated and exploited.

  memories of assemblys gone by.... does anyone remember crystal place assemblies?

  the jubliee stand was the stand to be in, because it got the shade in the afternoon, wereas all the other stands would be frying.

  i rember there was a mad insane dash for those seats everyday.

  I am always amazed that everyone rushes for the front/best seats at a SAD/CA/DC but never at a meeting at the hall. The opposite occurs - everyone rushes for the back seats. Go figure?

  I recall many times being encouraged as an elder to use some of these inane illustrations by PO/CO/DO - I chose my own and often avoided them altogether if they simply made no sens or prduced quizical looks. Does anyone stop to think about these irrelevant illustrations that pop up? This is an interesting ilustration, which absoultely begs a question: The bees on the flowers - what were they doing? Answer: They were working for the benefit of the hive. Application: Don't work alone in FS - someone will whup your ass.

  Dumbest Awake Title Ever?

  i hold in my hand the nov. awake magazine entitled "technology - blessing or curse?"..

  now, i understand the need for balance and moderation in using technology, as the magazine says - but could they come up with a more intelligent sounding title?

  it makes the question sound as if abandoning technology might be a solution, a considered choice, a real possibility.
